Adirondack Martial Arts Center’s Safety Day

DECEMBER 7, 2005 Clifton Park NY – Trooper Daniel F. Sisto of Troop “G” in Clifton Park participated in a free Safety Day held at Adirondack Martial Arts Center. The safety day included “stranger danger” a child abduction seminar which included, the 911 phone system, family “code words”, and self defense techniques taught by Master Instructor Michael A. Yuhasz. Trooper Sisto’s presentation included: free child ID kits for parents, safety information, coloring books & stickers for the children. Trooper Sisto also presented valuable information to the children regarding the 911 system & staying calm when an emergency.

“We offer our stranger danger seminar to our students twice a year”, says Yuhasz. “With the recent attempted abductions in our area we felt it was important to have one now. With some help form the NYS Police it seems to help get the message across to the children that it’s important to stay safe. Learning Tae Kwon Do is great for self-defense but when you’re dealing with the subject of child abduction having Trooper Sisto in the building helps the children understand how important self-defense really is”.

During the three 45 min. seminar’s students were given the following safety tips. Have a special “code word” that only your family is aware of for family emergencies. Always remember to use the buddy system. If a stranger tries to grab you, yell, FIRE, FIRE, FIRE to attract attention and to always follow your instincts, if it feels wrong than it probably is.

Adirondack Martial Arts Center is an official club member of USA Taekwondo & offers “Stranger Danger” workshops for Girl Scouts & Boy Scouts throughout the year.
