AMAC's Teen & Adult Tae Kwon Do Program

Adirondack Martial Arts Center's teen & adult Tae Kwon Do program is designed for an overall body workout through the practice of Tae Kwon Do. While training, adult students will learn traditional forms (series of movements designed to attack and defend imaginary opponents), various self defense techniques, Olympic sparring, paddle kicking drills, and gain personal fitness goals through flexibility training and conditioning.

AMAC's teen Tae Kwon Do program is unique because students can use the techniques they are taught in class in our tournament training classes / Olympic sparring sessions. For teens this is a great release and perfect way to test there training. In addition students have the option to compete in local & regional championships.

Our adult classes are offered for professionals on Tuesday & Thursday at 12 noon, therefore gaining a mid-day workout. We also offer a full schedule in the evening with special focused classes where students gain increased flexibility, strength, and self-defense skills through tae kwon do. What’s nice is seeing progress through our rank or belt system while working towards black belt. Tae Kwon Do eliminates the typical aerobic workout with a new exciting “kick”. Testimonials from current adult students:

Tracie Welch

Much to my surprise, Tae Kwon Do has become one of the most important things I do. I say this because when I first thought about it, I certainly did not think this was a sport for a high-maintenance type of girl like myself. But as it turns out, it doesn't matter what kind of person you might be. It's about how it makes you feel.

How can I describe it? I look forward to going to class. I mean, I really look forward to going to class! If I had a hard day at work, I know that at the end of that long day I can go to a place where everybody's happy to see you and you can kick and yell and get out all of your frustrations, increase your heart rate, stretch your aching back, build strength and stamina, and learn a new self-defense technique. At the end of 45 minutes, I feel like a different person. I'm happy and rejuvenated and already looking forward to tomorrow's class. I feel like it's one of the best things that I have ever done for myself.

I joined primarily for the self-defense aspect, but there is so much more to Tae Kwon Do at this school than just learning how to defend yourself. The teachers and students have become my friends. I take the courtesy and respect I learn in class and bring it home and to work with me. The values I have learned in class have started to subconsciously build inside me making me a better person.

Today, Fall of 2005, Tracie is a black belt working towards her second degree black belt.
