Sparring at Adirondack Martial Arts Center

Sparring is one of the most astonishing aspects of Tae Kwon Do. Sparring allows students to apply their Tae Kwon Do skills in a controlled environment. There are a few basic rules that need to be followed and an air of respect for ones self and their partner during every match. Without respect for the sport of Tae Kwon Do then sparring can easily become a confrontation. Please note that sparring should only be practiced in a professional Tae Kwon Do school (Do-jang).

At Adirondack Martial Arts Center all students are taught the basics of Olympic Style Sparring through target, chest protector drills and basic sparring techniques. All students gain basic knowledge of sparring in regularly scheduled classes within a controlled atmosphere.

Olympic sparring classes are scheduled every Wednesday & Friday evening where students who wish to pursue the sport of Tae Kwon Do and Tournament training have a chance to “kick around”. These classes are structured for sparring and Olympic kicking drills only.
